Ready To Begin A Rewarding Career?
Enter the Jim's Formal Wear Management Development Program!
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
JFW Management Development Program (MDP) is designed to prepare candidates for a management position in a JFW regional distribution center or retail store and to represent JFW to dealers and consumers in accordance with the company's reputation for superior customer service.
This mission is accomplished through a comprehensive 10-12 month training regimen covering all facets of the JFW organization. Training is conducted in any of the ten JFW Service Centers located throughout the United States. | See a Map of our Service Centers
QUALIFICATIONS:
The minimum academic requirement for enrollment in the Jim's Formal Wear (JFW) Management Development Program (MDP) is a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Although there is no specific degree major requirement, a business curriculum is preferred. Previous work experience in retail sales, apparel, or warehouse distribution is ideal, but not required.
Current JFW employees may qualify for program enrollment with an associate's degree from an accredited college or university and two years minimum JFW experience. Additionally, candidates must be prepared to relocate upon program completion, and, depending on the specific management assignment, anticipate frequent travel.
PROGRAM ADMINISTRATION:
Each JFW MDP management candidate will be assigned an advisor from the JFW corporate staff. The advisor will periodically counsel the candidate on progress and provide regularly scheduled performance feedback.
Further, a "senior" JFW MDP management candidate will be assigned as a mentor to a junior candidate. This mentor relationship will assist the junior candidate in training and other developmental issues. Day-to-day training responsibility rests with the management and staff of the local distribution center.
INVOLVEMENT:
The JFW MDP is divided into three major phases of development. The earliest phase of enrollment concentrates on basic skills of the production and customer service departments. Subsequent phases focus on the management responsibilities of production, dealer relations, quality assurance, and retail, as well as interaction with the corporate management staff.
By the time the management candidate reaches the final phase of development, the candidate is expected to function independently with minimal supervision and participate in management planning meetings and decisions. The candidate will also spend four 1-2 week visits to outside centers and a retail store during program enrollment.
PROGRAM LENGTH:
The time required in the JFW MDP varies depending on previous work experience, performance, and company management needs. Typically, the program lasts approximately 10-12 months.
PLACEMENT AT A JFW SERVICE CENTER:
The successful JFW MDP management candidate will be eligible for placement on the management team in a regional distribution center or retail store. Every effort will be made to identify a specific geographic location as early in the advanced phase of the program as possible.
Additionally, every possible consideration will be given to personal preference regarding specific management duties and location. However, the needs of the company must take precedence over personal desires.  |  Map of our Service Centers
COMPENSATION:
While in the JFW MDP, candidates can expect a competitive beginning annual salary and will be eligible for pay level increases at regular intervals. Candidates will also qualify for the company's Bonus Program, insurance benefits, company paid vacation, and tuition assistance according to existing rules of eligibility
